Abstract:   (3498 Views)
Mapping as an old practice in Islamic civilization comes to a greater attention when in navigation at large busy places like holy shrines. This research focusing on visual features of guiding maps in Masjed-al-Nabi, Baghi and Maalat cemeteries, takes both historical and analytical approaches from the guide maps illustrated in Fotooh- ol- Haramayn from 10th to 12th century AH. In this research 25 samples have been examined while sampling has been targeted due to the availability. The volume of samples is also due to the sufficiency while the adopted analytical method is semi-quantitative. The tools implemented in this research are the checklists and precise observation.
The findings show the loyalty to the realism as a vital issue in creating the work. The front view of Masjid- al- Nabi and the landscape of Baghi and Maalat has been the most concern in mapping. Gold and blue, the most used colors, are decorated by various kinds of calligraphy such as Nastaliqe with a few cases of Naskh, combined Naskh and broken-Nastaliqe.
