The central issue of this study is to examine the effects of this strategic location on the social and economic structure of the city of Hamadan. It appears that Hamadan&rsquo;s strategic location, cohesive physical structure, and demographic diversity constituted three key factors that enhanced the city&rsquo;s role in the power relations and economic system of Qajar Iran. Using qualitative content analysis, this study collected and classified data from valid travel accounts of the Qajar era. These data provide a multilayered depiction of urban life in Hamadan. The findings indicate that Hamadan&rsquo;s bazaar, as the beating heart of the urban economy, together with its physical structure&mdash;including the citadel, city walls, and diverse neighborhoods&mdash;created a setting for cultural coexistence and competition among domestic and foreign powers.
