The Impact of religion on Iran- Ottoman relationship patterns at Safavid era
Abdollah Motevali
Abstract:   (3417 Views)
Formation of Safavid administration within the geographical territory of Iran had a significant impact on general conditions in the region. In addition to the integrated independent political structure in Iran, safavid’s religious approach led to the different conditions in regional relationships. The western borders with ottomans beside the heterogeneity of religious literature, marked an unfriendly relationship with the later hostility between the two sides. Engaging in enmity for at least half of the safavid’s long lasting era, they hardly reached to some agreements unless to escape from military challenges some times.
Applying descriptive analytical approach, this research studies on the predominant  religious aspects in bilateral relationship. So the main question is what was the place of religious views in their relationship? The findings confirm the inclination of territorial expansion from both sides. Ottomans applying its religious capacity tried to adapt a literature in which emphasis would be on the righteousness of its own  religion. Safavids opposing to the ottomans, however, used to give priority to their religious approach regarding the conditions.
