Having a key role in transmitting Islamic culture and civilization to Europe, the crusades also put a great literary impact on Europe’s medieval literature. The existence of a large number of Islamic terminology and Eastern parables in various fields of sciences as well as in prose and poetry, epics, philosophical tails and mystics, represent the influence of Islamic literature on Europe.
Applying historical method and referring to the authentic histo- literary sources, this research analyzes and describes the ways of this transmission to Europe during the crusades. The findings show that the practice of translating various texts, during and in post- crusades era, had a significant role in Europeans intellectual and cultural evolution at Medieval and Renaissance era. Consequently this made Dante and later Descartes to be influenced by Muslims' works |
