During the reign of Sultan Malak Shah, the Seljuqs frequently attacked the Levant. The Seljuqs conquered the Levant after the Turk’s attack to the Fatimids’ Levantine borders. After the death of Malak Shah, conflict over the succession along with the rising power of the local leaders, led to the formation of various regional powers whose leaders used to get replaced frequently. These factors led to the instability of Islamic sovereignty in the Mediterranean East coast which made them fail to stand against the Crusaders. So the weakness of Muslims caused by one another along with the Crusaders attacks led to the final destruction of those power units in the region. Zangid dynasty destroyed all the remaining weak establishments and took control over the whole region.
The question is what is the relationship between the multiple powers in the Levant and the political stability at that particular period? And what made a changing situation from instability to stability in the region? Applying statistical method, data will only be examined upon the issue of “ time” with no consideration of other relevant factors. |
